BIO

Raised in the UK and now residing in Australia, Beck is a writer-director whose experience moving and working across continents fuels her storytelling. Utilising the Horror and Comedy genres as forms of expression, Beck is passionate about developing projects that challenge perceptions of identity and centre around themes of dissociation and autonomy from a psychological perspective, with a specific focus on the female experience (not a mouthful at all!).

Beck has written and directed a series of short films that have had success across festivals both in Australia and the U.S. Most recently, her Folk Horror feature screenplay, False Morel, was selected as a quarterfinalist in the 2023 Screencraft Horror Screenplay Competition. Beck was also fortunate to put her research into practice as a teaching assistant in Malaysia in 2022.

During her Masters of Screenwriting at AFTRS, Beck dedicated her practice to researching the conventions of psychological horror and exploring innovative ways to subvert traditional storytelling.
