BIO

Jacob Melamed is a Director and Writer who makes short films focusing on mental health, existentialism and identity. He loves to make films that balance a tonal tightrope between comedy and drama, allowing audiences to laugh and be entertained in one scene and cry and reflect upon themselves and their place in the world in another.

Jacob's films have screened at various prestigious international film festivals. His most recent short film, "We Have Me", was funded by Screen NSW under their Screenability film fund, designed to help filmmakers with disabilities, and premiered at the Sydney International Film Festival. His previous short film, "Invisible", is on-demand on ABC iView under their shorts program. He holds a bachelor's in Media Production from The University of New South Wales, a Graduate Certificate in Directing from the Australian Film Television and Radio School and a Master of Screenwriting at the Australian Film Television and Radio School.
